The Boxy add to this classic Cambridge Bungalow style was by well know Modern Architect Walter Gropius

Challenge: To rebuild to add more living space for a soon to be growing family while adhering to the original bungalow design intent. You would never know this had been remodeled, it was done so seamlessly.

This project had the added challenge of not only being very energy efficient with the foam wrap but also a no VOC construction materials mandate to optimize indoor air quality. It even has a passive solar element by a large tree south of it that provides shade in the summer. But when leaves are gone in winter the sun shines on a masonry interior floor adding thermal mass and heating.
